Wow, it's been in theaters for 27 weeks and it's still getting expansions?

That's just nuts. It'll be out on BD in less than 2 weeks and it's still showing on 150+ screens? Curious to see if it'll have higher first week sales than the Love Live movie. I'm thinking 200k first week sales is quite possible.

It seems that the film of Girls und Panzer was bringing in such huge revenues that they decided to finally go out all. Smile If all goes well, it may even have a chance of surpassing Love Live.

Still very big gap with Love Live.

Still 850m yen to go, too big of a gap.

Statistically, all GaruPan's BD releases have been massively overestimated by Amazon Stalker despite strong sales at storefront stores such as Animate, gamers, softmap, etc:

Let's say the movie BDs will be overestimated by ~30%, then that would mean a 190,000 Stalker estimate is ~135,000 in reality. However, the event ticket bundled with the BDs, might make the degree of overestimation less than 30%. I agree this could be close, but Bandai Visual wins in the end anyway, as they also distributed the Love Live! movie.

I would love to see Love Live! and GaruPan as #1 and #2 in the highest grossing late-night Anime movies list, but GaruPan's chances of reaching 2.86 billion yen are quite slim unless it stays at the Box Office for another 10~15 weekends. It hasn't even hit 2 billion yen yet after 26 weekends, and it hit 1.9 billion yen around 3 weekends ago. The gross performance severely dropped off from weekend 18 to 23, so my 10~15 weekends estimate might be even too generous. Nevertheless, it is very likely Madoka 3 will be toppled in the coming weekends, as it "only" grossed 2.08 billion yen.

Now, hopefully the KanColle movie (one of my other favourite franchises) can do this well at the Box Office, because its Anime BD sales was a big disappointment. Even KADOKAWA expressed their disappointment in its Anime BD sales in one of their press releases.

I'm shocked that the discs with very well known stock issues did not hit the first-week sales estimation which did not take into account stock issues. I'm kinda surprised something didn't even remember that. It's not like it was that long ago and he wrote a ton of posts regarding the stock issues.

The only thing that didn't have stock issues was the OVA and that had 36k first week BD sales when the estimate was 40k. That'd be about a 10% overestimation, so not sure where something is getting the 37.8% number. I honestly hope that's just a troll account due to how completely wrong that post is.

Data is easily verified at here for first week sales and here for the OVA BD estimate on stalker (it's the red numbers near the bottom).

That guy seems curiously biased with a lot of things so I don't particularly take his aside mutterings all that seriously or as much of an authority on anything.

They didn't just distribute them, they own both franchises. Actas and Lantis are subordinate companies to Bandai Visual just like Sunrise albeit with less internal autonomy Also I had heard the movie already passed 2 billion last weekend though it seems some websites stopped keeping track. Bandai kind of seems to be cleaning house of late with a lot of things (most recently the Walkure idol group from Macross really took off) in all their divisions lately though they've had a couple high profile mega bombs like Comet Lucifer and Luck and Logic too. The number of windfalls and hit after hit IPs some expected like the latest iterations of Gundam and Macross but also a lot of which seem to just seem to come almost out of nowhere like GuP, Love Live, Yamato 2199 or Tiger and Bunny far outnumber them though. And that's just for the anime division.

Geez, this makes me wonder if Touken Ranbu's approach of having 2 different TV series, one SOL and one action and plot-heavy, would be perfect for Kancolle in appeasing the core fanbases as well as be more inclusive for new viewers. Confused
