Double Dragon IV PS4 Game Delayed in Japan, Launches in the West

posted on by Karen Ressler

Arc System Works announced on Monday that its PlayStation 4 edition of Double Dragon IV is delayed in Japan due to "various circumstances." The game was slated to launch on Monday, and the release date is now undecided. The company apologized for the trouble and promised to make an announcement in a few days.

Arc System Works launched the game in the west for PS4 and PC via Steam on Monday. The Japanese website still lists Tuesday as the release date for the PC version in Japan.

The game celebrates the franchise's 30th anniversary. The story will begin after the elimination of the Shadow Warriors in 1988's Double Dragon II: The Revenge. Arc System Works describes the game:

Billy and Jimmy Lee are back and they've brought the 80's with them except the battlefield has moved to Japan!

Kakaomi Kaneko is producing the game, Yoshihisa Kishimoto is directing, Koji Ogata is designing the characters, Kazunaka Yamane is composing the music, and Kei Oyama is programming.

Arc System Works announced in 2015 that it had acquired the rights to Double Dragon and a number of other Technos Japan games.
