AnimeJapan Con Reveals Official Merch Lineup

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

The annual AnimeJapan convention is returning again this year with the theme of "All of anime is here." About 241 companies will soon head to the Tokyo Big Sight convention center for the event, which will run from March 22-25. Many of those companies will have official booths with exclusive merchandise for their related anime. However, the convention itself also offers limited-edition merchandise with characters from some of the year's biggest shows.

The characters on the event's official image above will feature on ever-popular tin badges, acrylic key holders, and a chocolate set available at an official goods booth. A few characters will also get a special chance to shine on the event's crossover T-shirts that AnimeJapan's official website recently unveiled.

This year's event shirts feature Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale's Asuna with Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Yūsha no Shō's Yuna, popular raccoon character Rascal with Kemono Friends' Common Raccoon, and the leading ladies from both Girls und Panzer das Final and Pop Team Epic. The first design was chosen through a Twitter follower voting campaign on the event's official Twitter account. All three designs will be available in four sizes and cost 3,500 yen (about US$33) each.

This year marks AnimeJapan's fifth anniversary, and the event will return to the Tokyo Big Sight convention center on March 22-25. The first two days will be "Business Area" days for members of the anime industry, and the second two days will be public days. Japan's Visual Industry Promotion Organization will hold the "Online to Real Hokubei Anime Ichiba Kōryaku-hō" (Online and Live: North American Anime Market Strategies) seminar at the Business Area on March 23.
