Kimi Shinitamou Koto Nakare by Chrono Crusade's Moriyama, Drakengard Director Yokō Gets Stage Play

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Play based on "dark battlefield action" manga about students with powers in battlefield debuts December

A stage play adaptation of manga creator Daisuke Moriyama and game director Tarō Yokō's Kimi Shinitamou Koto Nakare (Thou Shalt Not Die) manga has been green-lit. The play's title will be Kimi Shinitamou Koto Nakare Rei (Thou Shalt Not Die Zero), and it will run at Shinjukumura Live in Tokyo from December 21 to 25 for a total of nine performances.

The "dark battlefield action" manga is set in Japan, where scientific advancements have led to the development of special powers. The Japanese government establishes a high school for children with these powers, and the government trains them to use their powers for military purposes. Without even knowing the meaning of true combat, the students are thrown into battle. The manga tells the story of their lives and deaths.

The play will tell a prequel story set before the start of the manga.

The cast includes:

  • Mai Imade (former SKE48 member)
  • Ryo Oshima (Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō's Ushio Tōjō)
  • Ruka Endō (Aikatsu! song unit STAR☆ANIS)
  • Mina Kuryū
  • Yū Kitmaura
  • Yūki Kurofuji
  • Asuka Nagayoshi
  • Miki Mirai
  • Naoyuki Maruyama
  • Kōhei Masaki
  • Riona Tatemichi
  • Arisa Fujisaki
  • Yurika Tajima
  • Kōhei Takano
  • Keisuke Igara
  • Mondo Ukai

Ichidai Matsuda is in charge of the adaptation, and is also directing the production. Kaworu Asakusa is penning the script.

Moriyama and Tarō launched the manga in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine in December 2014. Chinatsu Kurahana (Uta no Prince Sama) is credited with designing the uniforms for the manga. Square Enix published the manga's third compiled book volume on July 25. The manga's official website is streaming a promotional video for the manga.

Moriyama created the manga Chrono Crusade, and Gonzo adapted the series into a television anime in 2003. Funimation licensed and released the anime in North America. Moriyama's original manga is currently unlicensed in North America after the closure of ADV Manga.

Yokō is the director of the Drakengard (Drag-On Dragoon) series, and was also in charge of the game Nier. Drakengard 3 shipped in Japan in December 2013, and in North America and Europe in May 2014. His upcoming NieR:Automata game will ship for the PlayStation 4 in Japan on February 23, and will also get a version for PC.
