Game ships in winter for PS4 in Japan; for PS4, PC in the West

The October issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine revealed on Tuesday that Bandai Namco Entertainment's Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist game will add Kōtarō Amon, Kishō Arima, Tōka Kirishima, and Shū Tsukiyama as playable characters.

The new third-person survival action game is slated for release for PlayStation 4 in Japan in winter. Bandai Namco Entertainment America will release the game for PS4 and PC via Steam in the West.

The game will involve the stories of both the Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul:re manga, and it will have online multiplayer. Bandai Namco Entertainment noted that players can choose between the side of ghouls or investigators in the game, with both Haise Sasaki and Ken Kaneki as playable characters.

Funimation recently released the Tokyo Ghoul: Dark War smartphone game. Sui Ishida's manga also inspired the 2017 Tokyo Ghoul:re Invoke smartphone game, the 2015 Tokyo Ghoul carnaval∫color smartphone game, and the 2015 Tokyo Ghoul Jail PlayStation Vita game.

Ishida serialized Tokyo Ghoul in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump from 2011 to 2014 and more recently serialized Tokyo Ghoul:re. The manga entered its final arc in February and ended on July 5. Shueisha published the manga's 16th compiled volume on July 19. Viz Media is releasing the sequel manga series in North America.

The first season of the Tokyo Ghoul:re anime premiered on April 3. Funimation streamed the series with English subtitles. The company also released the anime's first eight episodes with an English dub alongside those episodes' premieres in Japan, before moving to a two-week delay on the ninth episode. The second season will premiere in October.
