PS4 game launches in Japan on October 31, in Americas/Europe in 2020

Atlus began streaming two new videos on Thursday highlighting new features in its Persona 5 Royal (Persona 5 The Royale in Japan) role-playing game. Ikue Ohtani narrates both videos as the character Morgana.

The first video previews new characters, new scenes, and a new semester not previously covered in the original game. The video also hints at a new "handsome" male character with dark blue hair who refers to himself using the same pronoun as Morgana.

The second video highlights the new Kichijoji area, a date at an aquarium, a new feature where friends can send the protagonist pictures through a messaging app, the ability to spend time with the characters Caroline and Justine outside of the Velvet Room, and new enemies.

The game will launch for PlayStation 4 in Japan on October 31. The game will then launch in the Americas and Europe in 2020.

The game will feature the new character Kasumi Yoshizawa (voiced by Sora Amamiya), and the new confidant character Takuto Maruki (voiced by Satoshi Hino). The game will reveal the untold third school semester and have new school life and phantom life content. New features will also include Status Assist, more songs, and enhanced graphics with PlayStation 4 Pro support.

Persona 5 shipped for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan on September 15, 2016. The game shipped in North America on April 4, 2017 after a delay. The game features animation sequences from the Production I.G studio.

Atlus is also working with Koei Tecmo Games' Omega-Force subsidiary on a separate new game in the franchise titled Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. The game will be the series' first action role-playing game.
