The game will feature a new multiplayer mode, new areas, and new Yo-kai. Those who already have Yo-kai Watch 4: Bokura wa Onaji Sora o Miageteiru for Switch can purchase the additional content for their game.

The new multiplayer mode "Purapura Busters" allows up to four players to control Yo-kai and battle enemies together. The PS4 version features online play, and the Switch version supports both local and online communication. New areas include Dandanzaka (Blossom Heights in previous games) and Kamayude Jigoku (Boiling Pot Hell). Dandanzaka will feature the boss Yo-kai, Nobosetonman (Sproink). New Yo-kai include Saya/Makenki, О̄gama (Toadal Dude), Tsuchigumo (Arachnus), Robonyan 00 (pronounced double O), Becchan/Nuttara Beccha, Kukuri Hime, B Jibanyan, B Komasan, B Usapyon, Doyapon/Dо̄danuki, Shurakoma, Bushinyan (Shogunyan), Kakurenbо̄/Inai-inai-baa, Kezurin/Jinkotsu Kezuri, and Dame-boy/Zettai-guardman.

The Yo-kai Watch 4: Bokura wa Onaji Sora o Miageteiru game shipped for Switch on June 20 after multiple delays. Level 5 had announced in September that the game would get a PS4 release.
